You can add K9 Safe Search to your browser's search bar, and use it whenever you want to search the Internet. This does NOT require a separate download, nor does it install any addons, it just uses the search functionality already built in to your browser.

K9 Safe Search can be added as a search provider for Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome.

Your browser does not support changing the search provider. Below are instructions for supported browsers.

Instructions for Internet Explorer
  1. Click on the Search Engine box drop-down arrow in the top-right corner of your browser.
    Note: If you do not see the Search Engine box in your browser, you can click here and skip to step 3.
  2. Choose "Add Search Providers" and "K9 Safe Search".
  3. You will see a dialog box like this:
  4. Make sure to check the box "Make this my default search provider", and click [Add].
Instructions for Firefox
  1. Click on the Search Engine box icon in the top-right corner of your browser.
  2. Choose "Add K9 Safe Search".
Instructions for Google Chrome
  1. Go to the "Settings" menu (little wrench icon in top right corner)
  2. Choose "Options"
  3. Under the "Basics" » "Search" section, click on the [Manage Search Engines...] button.
  4. Hover your mouse over "K9 Safe Search" under "Other Search Engines" and click the "Make default" button that appears.
  5. Click the [X] in the upper right corner to close the "Search Engines" pane.
  6. Do a test search to make sure it goes to K9 Safe Search.
